South Maui: Wailea, Kihei, and Makena Beaches
Wailea Beach sits in front of the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons Maui — long, wide, and one of the most beloved snorkeling beaches in South Maui. The 1.5-mile Wailea Beach Path running between resorts is fully paved and accessible, but the sand itself requires a beach wheelchair or beach walker. Big Beach in Makena is wider and wilder — two-thirds of a mile of pristine sand and dramatic surf at the south end of the resort area, and a popular spot for sunsets. To the north, Kamaole Beach Park III in Kihei also offers a free beach wheelchair at the lifeguard station, but renting from Akamai Mobility means equipment is ready and waiting at your hotel without depending on park availability.
West Maui: Kaanapali, Napili, and Kapalua Beaches
The famous Kaanapali Beach runs three miles of golden sand past the major beachfront resorts — Hyatt Regency, Marriott Ocean Club, Westin, Whalers Village, and the Sheraton at Black Rock. The paved Kaanapali Beach Walk behind the resorts is fully accessible, but reaching the actual sand requires beach mobility equipment. Napili Bay and Kapalua Bay further north are smaller, calmer crescent beaches — ideal for visitors who want a quieter beach experience with easier sand access. Both beach wheelchair and beach walker work well at these locations, with the wheelchair being the better choice for accessing the water at Napili’s gentle entry.

Riders who can stand and walk but need stability or tire easily benefit from the Beach Walker — it provides hands-free support, has a built-in seat for rest breaks, and lets the rider stay independent on the sand. Riders who can’t walk on sand are best served by the Beach Wheelchair, with the major advantage that our rear-swivel design makes it the easiest model in Hawaii for a caregiver to push.
